Driving Tips... and Common Sense!
The coast is tricky!
⚠️ Caution and attentiveness are essential: the roads are narrow, full of continuous curves, and often your lane may be invaded by vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
➡️ Always keep to the right, the far right. Never cut wide into long bends, and never attempt to overtake unless you are certain there is a safe straight stretch.
👀 Never get distracted admiring the view. Stay alert at all times — even a small distraction could make you fall!
⚙️ Avoid sudden swerves or abrupt movements, and do not brake sharply or repeatedly. Always brake with both brakes: apply the rear brake lightly before the front one to avoid sudden braking that could throw your body forward.
⛑️ Never ride with your helmet unfastened. For a motorcyclist, the helmet is the ONE and ONLY safety device. Riding with it unfastened is not only AGAINST THE LAW but also extremely dangerous!
🚦 Even on roads that seem empty or with little traffic, always respect speed limits and slow down when approaching intersections.
🔴 Always stop at a red or yellow traffic light, even if no one else is around.
🚫 Never overtake stationary cars near an intersection or pedestrian crossing. Reckless overtaking can be fatal, even for pedestrians crossing the road.
🚫 Do not weave between lanes. This is very dangerous on a motorcycle: a car may suddenly switch lanes, especially if one line is stopped and the other is moving.
👁️ Keep your eyes on the vehicles in front of you, check their turn signals, and always maintain a moderate speed.
🚗 Beware of parked cars! To avoid being hit by a suddenly opened door, always watch out for parked vehicles, especially double-parked ones. Take a quick look inside: someone might decide to get out just as you are about to pass!
CAUTION
where you park your scooter!
..IT COULD COST YOU A LOT...!!! €€€$$$
